Rick Morgen - Alto Sax
Received his B.M. in saxophone performance from the Florida State University where he studied with Patrick Meighan, and his M.M. in woodwind performance from the University of Michigan studying with Donald Sinta. Other instructors include James Elliott, Lee Patrick and Sigurd Rascher. Rick has held faculty positions at Tidewater Community College, Old Dominion University, Indiana University Southeast, as well as Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp (MI). He has performed with the Louisville Orchestra, the Virginia Symphony, Jackson (MI) Symphony, and the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestras. Rick was a member of The Trio, a saxophone trio with Lee Patrick and John Moore, and a founding member of the Virginia Saxophone Quartet. Rick has toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe including in Milan’s La Scala Opera House where he worked under Karlheinz Stockhausen in the critically acclaimed production and premiere of Samstag aus Licht, released on Deutsche Grammophon Records.
Kristopher Reese - Tenor Saxophone
Kristopher Reese attended college at Hood College in Frederick, MD where he received his bachelor degree in Saxophone performance. He studied Saxophone and Clarinet with David Duree and Flute with Susan Mott and Barbara Spicher. At his time at Hood College, he performed as the primary saxophonist for the Hood College Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensembles and performed on Soprano, Alto, and Tenor Saxophones with the McDaniel Saxophone Quartet. He has also performed as a saxophone soloist with the Hood College Wind Ensemble, Hood College Choirs, and various other ensembles around the Maryland area. Kris has worked closely with many of the composers at Hood College and has premiered multiple compositions from those composers.
Kris currently resides in Louisville where he's studying at the J.B. Speed School of Engineering in Computer Science at the University of Louisville. Since his arrival in Louisville he has been performing in several ensembles throughout the city.
Dennis Buchholz - Bari Sax
Received musical training at Ohio Wesleyan University and performed Big Band music with bands in the Columbus Ohio area for several years before graduate school in Neuropsychology, which made it necessary for him to put music aside for a brief time. After taking up the baritone saxophone again in 2003 he has had the opportunity to play with local groups including Indiana University Southeast Concert Band, the Louisville Orchestra, Music Theatre of Louisville and Actors Theatre.
