Louisville Saxophone Quartet

Quartet

Coming from various musical backgrounds, the Louisville Saxophone Quartet is comprised of some of the best saxophonists in the Louisville, Kentucky region.  We are musicians having been brought together by our passion for music and our love for the saxophone. Chamber music has continued to challenge and mature us as musicians with inspiration from world class performances of many different styles of music. In addition to performing a wide range of standard pieces, we have been fortunate to have a composition written especially for us by Daniel Powers of Indiana State University, which has since been performed widely throughout the United States by other ensembles.  In 2009, we will be collaborating with Erich Stem of Indiana University Southeast on a new composition for saxophone quartet and percussion that we will premier.   Our repertoire of classical and jazz pieces, blended with the sultry, rich expressiveness of the tenor, alto, soprano, and baritone saxophones creates musical interpretations that delight and intrigue our audiences. We play exclusively on SELMER PARIS SAXOPHONES and prefer the SERIES III models.

We have performed for and given clinics to High Schools and Colleges, and have performed for the Governor’s School for the Arts in Lexington, Kentucky.  In coming months we will be performing on classical radio 90.5 FM, and will be featured on local television with a live performance and interview.  We also regularly perform for weddings, receptions and private corporate functions.

If you would like to book a performance or to have us conduct a clinic or masterclass, please email us to set up a date and time.
